Samiri is the very unique name in the Quran and many people are confused that what is this reference to and who is this person. Actually we all are familiar with the story this person is related to but we are not familiar with this person as much as we are familiar with the story.
Maybe you remember the story in which the Moses peace be upon him has went to the mountain and the person behind has made the calf and told the people to worship it. Samiri is that person who has made that calf.
Conversation with Moses
After the return of the Moses piece be upon him it was revealed to him that samiri has done this thing and Moses ask him that what have you done as he replied that I have perceived what they didn’t perceive. Moses said to him that you should leave this place and your punishment will be that you will be saying that don’t touch me. Moses said to him that even your god which you have created yourself will be burning with you in the hell.

By reading this story in the Quran many people are realizing and wondering that who is this person and why he did that. There is no specific records in the Quran or another Islamic books about this person but some people are saying that he was from the neighboring place of the Moses and he was against the people of the Israel in seeing that they are worshipping the one Lord.
He wanted to lead other people a stray and told the people that the calf is the god of Moses also. The children of Israel were confirmed to only worship the god of the Moses so he used the name of the Moses in order to divert them from the truth.
What this story tells us
Even though there are many stories like this in the Quran which are also available on Online Quran Academy but if we are going to get some positive points out of this story then we should say that when you reader is away then you should not think about the right and wrong yourself. If you are confident you have the truth in your hand then even if the biggest devil will be in front of you but you will not listen to him.
Calf has been created in front of the children of Israel but they didn’t realize that it is the truth as the calf is not able to respond. Even the Moses has said that this deity which you have created is not able to benefit you or harm you and it’s going in hell in the hereafter like you are.
